07.01.09 - Springfield, IL - GIS Solutions, Inc. a full service GIS consulting firm and ESRI Business Partner, announced today the hiring of three Senior GIS Programmers, Mr. A.J. Romanelli, Mr. Brett Lawson and Mr. Keith Croteau.
Mr. Romanelli has been working in the field of GIS for over 14 years with expertise in the development, implementation, and maintenance of production grade GIS systems. Specifically, Mr. Romanelli has designed and developed mapping and reporting services using ArcGIS server and webservices for private and public sector clients including projects in areas of Transportation, Water and Waste Water Mangement, Agriculture and Enterprise GIS. Mr. Romanelli’s development of Oracle Spatial and ESRI SDE integration best practices brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his position. Mr. Romanelli earned his BA degree in Geology from New York State University and a Masters of Science in Geohydrology from Illinois State University.
Mr. Croteau has over 16 years experience in designing, developing, integrating, and supporting geographic information systems. Mr. Croteau has designed and built applications that span a variety of disciplines including Water and Waste Water Management, Environmental Monitoring, Asset management, State and Local Goverment, Travel and Tourism and Economic Development. Mr. Croteau earned his Bachelor of Science and Masters in Forestry and Natural Resource Management from Colorado State University.
Mr. Lawson has 8 years of experience as a Senior GIS Programmer and has worked on numerous enterprise GIS projects with development expertise in the ESRI product suite including ArcGIS Server and the integration of SharePoint. Mr. Lawson has implemented GIS projects in various market areas including Oil and Gas, Law Enforcement, Environmental Management and Forestry, Local Government and Public Health.
Mr. Lawson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science & Physical Geography from Nipissing University in Ontario, Canada. He also completed a GIS Certification from Sir Sanford Fleming College in Ontario, Canada.
02.01.09 - Chicago, IL - In January 2009, GIS Solutions, Inc., and partners Avineon, EKI and Scarfe Consulting, completed a 5.3 million dollar data conversion project for the City of Chicago Department of Water Management. This project was a two year effort to establish a complete, functional GIS system for the citywide water distribution system, accessible by City personnel. The GIS system contains current and accurate water distribution system data converted from map and data sources such as atlas maps in paper and electronic formats, over 23,000 service plat maps and break and leak data in hand written formats.
01.05.09 - Springfield, IL - GIS Solutions and partner, NAVTEQ, provide data to the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries for the shortest pathfinder project. The NAACCR received a Komen for the Cure, 3 year, $300,000 grant for the project which will result in the development of a software application “Road Network Distance Application” that will process batches of patient records supplied by population based cancer registries in the United States and Canada. This application will output multiple measures of driving time and distance travel by car between the patient’s residence and the health care facilities visited for cancer diagnosis and treatment.
09.01.08 - Springfield, IL - GIS Solutions is now developing "School Prefect", a project to digitize school boundary maps for all public high schools within the United States. Once completed, this application will link information including school report card data, financial data, extracurricular activities, athletics and advanced placement courses to school boundary maps. This application and data will be available online as a resource for parents, teachers, and public officials.
03.25.08 - Springfield, IL - GIS Solutions is working with the Illinois Department of Transportation to design, develop and inplement a new roadway inventory platform. The project will improve data sharing, provide standardized data formats, as well as improve data maintenance and reduce data errors. The project also involves building a geodatabase structure to support the integration of existing GIS, various operational databases and a variety of IDOT applications.
